Rep. Vern Buchanan, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Florida's 16th district, has recently shared his views on various topics through a series of tweets. Born in Detroit, Michigan, Buchanan has been an active political figure since replacing Katherine Harris in 2007 and has also served in the Florida House of Representatives.

On March 24, 2025, Buchanan expressed his agreement with concerns regarding SNAP benefits. He stated that these benefits should assist low-income families in purchasing healthy food rather than subsidizing junk food. He highlighted the issue by mentioning that "43% of adults and 20% of kids suffering from obesity" makes it unreasonable for taxpayers to continue funding this crisis. "Fully agree. SNAP benefits are meant to help low-income families buy healthy food, not subsidize junk food that is perpetuating the chronic disease epidemic."

Later on the same day, Buchanan commented on Stacey Abrams' use of funds during her 2018 gubernatorial race. He criticized Abrams for allegedly spending millions from her tax-exempt organization to mobilize liberal voters and called for action from the IRS against such practices: "What a disgrace... The IRS needs to CUT the tax-exempt status of Abrams’ organization and any other abusing orgs."

In another tweet posted later that day, Buchanan conveyed optimism about economic developments under President Biden's administration: "Good news for American workers and families. @POTUS is bringing jobs and manufacturing back to America."
